Skiing close to heaven: Obertauern in Salzburger Land is one of the highest ski resorts in Austria, right on the main Alpine ridge. When other ski resorts are still herding their sheep from the green meadows, the first snow is already falling on the slopes in Obertauern, covering everything with a layer of white mudflats. And then our hearts and those of all ski bunnies, piste rabbits and snowmen smile. Because the slopes of Obertauern go up to over 2000m above sea level.

In Obertauern you ski by points. Our lift passes are free of price agreements and expensive mergers. Because if you go to Obertauern, you stay in Obertauern. Why would you want to go anywhere else? 26 lifts, 100 kilometers of slopes of varying degrees of difficulty and many highlights (fun park, speed measurement course, night skiing, etc.) make your skiing vacation in Obertauern anything but boring.
This is how it works:
- One-time purchase of the points card during your ski vacation
- Points cards are valid in the entire Obertauern ski area
- Points only debited after use while skiing
- Optionally valid for 1 or 2 winter seasons in Obertauern
- Points cards are not transferable
Obertauern Winter Card
In addition to the points system, there is the Obertauern Winter Card for all frequent skiers, similar to a season ticket, it is valid for the whole winter. It can also be used in the Grosseck / Speiereck ski area. The Obertauern Winter Card is personal and cannot be transferred or resold to other persons.
The Obertauern Winter Card is particularly popular with families, as a family receives free Winter Cards for all other younger children/young people in the family if Winter Cards are purchased for the two eldest children or teenagers at the same time. Proof of family affiliation is required. Subsequently purchased Winter Cards can no longer be counted towards the family discount.

Even if our guests hardly ever use it, the ski bus is free for guests with ski equipment and ski pass.

Ski holidays Obertauern with children
Children up to their 6th birthday travel free when accompanied by their parents. Of course, the little ones receive a free lift pass when booking a ski course at the Koch ski school – right next to the Hotel Koch. Children up to the age of 15 receive a reduced children’s ski pass, i.e. a children’s season ticket or a children’s points card. Proof of age is required both when purchasing tickets and during checks in the ski area with photo ID.
Obertauern’s mascot, Bobby the snow bunny, also drops by the Koch ski school from time to time and ensures a good mood and lots of fun. In his honor, there is also the new “Bobby Land” with the “Bobby’s Monster Park” and lots of funny characters and exciting puzzles. Other attractions include a children’s igloo and the ski ghost train in the fairytale park at the Schaidbergbahn. There is a wave track and a ski course for all those who are already confident on skis. set up.

Vacations with teenagers in Obertauern
Anyone aged 16 to 17 is considered a young person. Young people of this age receive a reduced ski pass. Proof of age is required both when purchasing tickets and during checks in the ski area with photo ID. The children’s dew tour is a really cool winter sports experience for kids and teenagers.
Night skiing in Obertauern
Skiing under a starry sky or under floodlights – directly on the Edelweissbahn slope. You can’t afford to miss it. The snow shines like the stars and at the foot of the moonlit mountains lies the brightly illuminated backdrop of Obertauern. A special experience and great fun, especially for groups.
All lift tickets from the Obertauern ski pools with a validity of 1 1/2 days or more are valid for night skiing. Evening tickets for day guests are available at the Edelweissbahn valley station.
